The ATAS plugin is compiled; the ports included for other platforms are source software supplied for the purchaser's own use. The indicator counts time brackets per price row and labels rule-based candidates; it does not know who is buying or selling, cannot see inside a long bar, and its levels, shapes and marks are descriptions of past price, not predictions. Its signals and levels are not trading advice, and nothing here is certified for automated execution; the indicator never places orders.
TPO counts time, not volume, and every shape or edge label is a rule-based candidate that changes while the session develops. Profiles that are APPROXIMATE, COARSE or PARTIAL publish no levels, and those flags sit below the default three-line panel, so untick Compact panel while you check your data.
Before you start
ATAS Platform 8.0.15 or newer (uses the .NET 10 runtime that ATAS ships)
Windows PC with write access to %APPDATA%\ATAS\Indicators
Bid/ask footprint history strongly recommended; without it the profile falls back to each candle's high-low range and is marked APPROXIMATE
Chart bars no longer than the TPO bracket (default 30 minutes), a tick size known to ATAS, and at least one full earlier session of history

For each session it counts, per price row, how many different time brackets (default 30 minutes) visited that row, using real footprint rows when available. From the counts it derives the time value center (TPOC), a 70% value area, single-print rows, shape and edge candidates, and publishes the finished session's TPOC, value area low and value area high as levels on the next session. A failed-auction mark appears when a closed bar moves beyond the previous complete profile's extreme row and closes back inside it.
Install path: %APPDATA%\ATAS\Indicators
Exact shipped defaults
These defaults are a starting point for comparison, not recommended trading parameters or a loss limit. Candle counts depend on the interval. Refer to the shipped source for validation rules before changing them.
Setting
Default
Meaning
TPO row size (ticks)
4
Height of one price row in ticks. Rows are widened automatically if a session would need more than 2,000 rows.
TPO bracket minutes
30
Length of one time bracket; a row's count is the number of different brackets that visited it.
Show TPO histogram
true
Draws the developing session's bracket counts along the right edge; gold rows were visited by one bracket.
Session start (minutes after midnight)
0
Where the daily session is cut, in minutes after midnight.
Blank cuts the day on the chart's clock. A Windows time-zone name treats chart times as UTC and converts them.
Maximum visible zones
12
Draws only the nearest this-many prior-session lines, ranked by distance and strength.
Show touched levels
false
Also draws levels that price has already reached, in grey, up to the bar that touched them.
Compact panel (title + two lines)
true
Shows only the first three panel lines; untick to see the shape, edge and data-quality lines.
Full analysis detail
true
Keeps the full chart with spelled-out labels; switching it off (with Compact display on) gives a short style.
Alerts on closed signal / level touch
false
Plays the alert sound when a failed-auction mark closes or a level is first touched.
Step-by-step practice tutorial
Work in ATAS replay or on a demo account. The exercise teaches installation and signal interpretation; the indicator never sends an order.
STEP 1
Install and load
Close ATAS, run .\ATAS\Install.ps1, start ATAS and add Cival Auction Structure to a chart with several days of footprint history on a timeframe of 30 minutes or less. The panel title reads Cival Auction Structure — developing and a histogram appears on the right edge.
STEP 2
Check the session clock
Leave Session start at 0 and Session timezone blank for a midnight cut on the chart's clock, or set them to match your market. Reload the chart if you change them and watch the date in the level labels.
STEP 3
Show the whole panel
Untick Compact panel (title + two lines). Eight lines appear. The last two should read Visited prices from real footprint rows and Bracket counts; not volume counts. APPROXIMATE, COARSE or PARTIAL means the profile is an estimate.
STEP 4
Read the developing profile
Line 2 gives the time value center (TPOC) and value area; line 3 the shape candidate and number of single-print rows; line 5 the low and high edge candidates. Gold histogram rows were visited by one bracket only.
STEP 5
Read the prior-session lines
From the second session on, three lines labelled with the earlier date appear: time value center, time value low and time value high. They begin at the new session's first bar. Compare the open with them.
STEP 6
Read failed-auction marks
A ▼ FA prior TPO high or ▲ FA prior TPO low sits on a closed bar that moved beyond the previous profile's extreme row and closed back inside. Count how many appear at the same extreme before judging one.
STEP 7
Change the grid and compare
Change TPO row size (ticks) or TPO bracket minutes and note how the TPOC, value area and Effective row change. Export CSV files if you want to keep the marks and levels.
Record your acceptance checks
□ Get-FileHash of %APPDATA%\ATAS\Indicators\Cival.AuctionStructure.dll matches the Cival.AuctionStructure.dll line in SHA256SUMS.txt.
□ After restarting ATAS, Cival Auction Structure appears in the indicator catalog.
□ On a chart, the panel title reads Cival Auction Structure — developing and line 2 starts with TPOC (shown as Time value center) and VA.
□ A histogram is drawn along the right edge; gold rows are single-bracket visits; turning Show TPO histogram off removes it.
□ With Compact panel (title + two lines) unticked the panel shows eight lines, and with good footprint data the last two read Visited prices from real footprint rows and Bracket counts; not volume counts.
□ Scrolling to a day that follows a complete day shows three lines labelled with the earlier date starting at that day's first bar.
□ Changing TPO row size (ticks) changes the histogram resolution and the Effective row line.
□ With a CSV export folder set, AuctionStructure-signals.csv and AuctionStructure-zones.csv exist after the calculation finishes.
Open the panel in full and confirm the last two lines read Visited prices from real footprint rows and Bracket counts; not volume counts. Then compare the prior-session lines and any failed-auction marks with where the new session opened.
Maintain, update and customize
Keep the downloaded ZIP, the receipt, the release version and the SHA-256 checksum together; you need the ZIP to reinstall or roll back.
Before updating, close ATAS, save a chart template and note your session start, timezone, row size and bracket minutes; the new Install.ps1 backs up the previous same-named DLL.
Copy exported CSV files you want to keep; they are rewritten when the history is recalculated. Use a separate export folder per chart.
Keep dated screenshots with the panel expanded when you review sessions, so you can compare later with the data flags in view.
Troubleshooting
Cival Auction Structure is not in the indicator list
Close ATAS fully, confirm Cival.AuctionStructure.dll is in %APPDATA%\ATAS\Indicators, start ATAS again and search for Cival. If the installer was blocked, run powershell -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -File .\ATAS\Install.ps1.
The panel shows only three lines
Compact panel (title + two lines) is on by default. Untick it in the Information panel group to see the shape, edge and data-quality lines.
APPROXIMATE: candle range fallback
Some bars have no footprint rows or are longer than the bracket. Load footprint history, use a shorter timeframe or a longer TPO bracket. The flag stays for the rest of that session and the finished session publishes no levels.
COARSE: bar spans multiple brackets
The bar is longer than TPO bracket minutes. Use a shorter chart timeframe or a longer bracket.
PARTIAL: session starts before history
History starts mid-session, or bars or footprint rows are missing inside the session. Load more history and check for data gaps and the session start setting.
No lines from earlier sessions
Only complete, exact sessions publish levels, tested levels are hidden unless Show touched levels is on, and only the nearest Maximum visible zones are drawn. Fix the data flags, check the loaded history, symbol and timeframe, tick Show touched levels or raise Maximum visible zones. Missing levels mean the data did not qualify; they are not a measured zero.
A row's count looks lower than the number of candles that visited it
The count is the number of different time brackets, not candles or volume. Ten candles visiting a price inside one bracket plus one in a second bracket give a count of 2, not 11. Use a volume profile for volume at price.
The settings do not match this guide
A saved chart or template carries its own values and overrides the defaults. Compare each value with the defaults and reset any you do not recognise.
Sessions begin at the wrong time
Adjust Session start (minutes after midnight). If you typed a Session timezone, the chart must display UTC; clear it if unsure.
The DLL is locked during install or update
ATAS is still running. Close it, end leftover ATAS processes in the task manager and run the installer again.
Include your order reference, product/version, operating system, ATAS version, failed step and a redacted error. Never send environment files, passwords, private keys or seed phrases.
